Make-Up & Jewelry Schizznizz

Hello fellow interweb friends!

A few days ago, I decided to be productive and clean part of my room, this part being the top of my shelf/cabinet thing where I keep all my jewelry and make-up. I had so much fun reorganizing my stuff and thought it was totally about time I do so because my momma constantly yells at me about how I don't know what I have! Anywho, I got around to organizing all my stuff, mainly just my make-up and jewelry, which is actually a lot more things that I expected myself to have. I thought I'd record a video for you guys just showing you how I organize everything and where I keep them, but it accidentally turned into pretty much a collections video...I'm so sorry!

So here is the video, hope you guys enjoy! I know it's a bit long, but afterwards, I thought maybe it was a good idea just to share with you guys what I have now and then we can grow our collections together! If you guys have any questions/comments/suggestions/bits-and-bobs that you'd like to share, feel free to leave a comment down below or a comment on the video. I love reading comments and responding, so please, share away!

Hope you enjoyed it! If you did, please subscribe to my blog and channel for more random tidbits to come your way! And like I mentioned earlier, feel free to leave any kinds of comments you'd like. I want to talk to you guys as much as possible so that we both don't feel like we're only connected by a screen!

Until next time,
Uyen

Back-to-School Look #1: Comfy Casual

Hello fellow interweb friends!

As you all may already know, I've been working on putting a look-book together for the sake of back-to-school season. I'm a lazy dresser and I dress more for comfort, so I use as little pieces and as light of pieces as possible whenever I get dress. The thing about back-to-school season in southern California is the weather is still pretty warm outside, can possibly go up to the hundreds, which means if you're not dress for comfort and the heat, you are going to be miserable for eight hours straight or however long you are in school for. Here are some of my outfit ideas for you guys, and I think my style is pretty straight forward and simple, so you can wear the similar styles whether you are in high school or college or even if you want some ideas for everyday kind of thing.

So, for this look-book schizznizz, I thought I'd post a look a day kind of thing instead of bombarding you guys with like 47895810973492 different looks at once, not that my closet will allow me to do that many combinations! Below is look number 1, consisting of a white tank top from H&M, a light almost brownish/nudish jacket from Bar III at Macy's, a floral embroidered/textured skirt from Urban Outfitters, and some sandals with gold details from Vince Camuto. To finish off the look without making it look too much and keeping it as casual as possible, I layered it with a "Love" necklace I got at Tilly's with a rose pendant necklace that I got at Forever 21 about a year ago.

This look is perfect for any day of the week, both spring, summer, and even a little bit of fall. It is somewhat girly, surprise surprise, I can be girly as well, but still not too girly to the point where you feel like you want to vomit pink!

Hope you guys enjoy this look! I will post up another one soon, but for now, have fun playing dress up. Just remember, be cute, be fabulous, but most importantly, be comfortable!

Until next time,
Uyen

Foodie Tues-dee #5

Hello fellow interweb friends!

It is that time of week again where I share with you guys my food adventures! For this week, I want to share with you an old favorite, but definitely a good one.

Brodard Restaurant is a little place that serves delicious Vietnamese food and it has always been one of my favorite places to eat. Their infamous pork rolls are just amazing, especially paired with the shrimp paste sauce. My friends who I've taken here and exposed them to these rolls all love them, which pretty much means that they are way too flippen amazing! Then today, I tried this noodle dish with grilled shrimp, pork, chicken with a side of "Asian greens" that consisted of pickled carrots and something else mixed in with thinly cut cucumbers, bean sprouts, and various herbally leaves.

Because all these dishes had a lot of veggies in them, it made them super light and somewhat healthy too. The flavors are a good mix of savory, sweet, and cooling/refreshing from all the vegetables. Each dish came out with their own sauce, but the basis of the sauce is either shrimp or fish.

I cannot rave about this restaurant enough! It is super affordable, great portions, tastes amazing, and I seriously cannot find one bad thing about it! If you guys get a chance, do go check them out and order some pork rolls for me!

Until next time,
Uyen

Musical Monday #2

Hello fellow interweb friends!

It is a new week, and you know what that means! It is time for a new song that can put a pep in your step, a kick to your week, all the goody-goody gumdrops that can make your day that much better!

For this week's Musical Monday, I chose "Brave" by Sara Bareilles. My friend showed me this song last week and after having one good listen to it, I became addicted and thought it is the perfect song for Musical Mondays! It is so encouraging and self-empowering, which are both very important attitudes that we should all have, especially on Mondays when we all feel like the world is against us. Here's the video and I hope you enjoy the song as much as I am!

She is already an amazing singer and I completely and utterly love her, but this song is just super duper fantabuluperly amazing! When I saw the video, I just started dancing around like a crazy lady. If you want to join my crazy dance party, please feel free to do so, after all, "I want to see you be brave!"

Until next time,

Everything You Need in a Cute Little Bag!

Hello fellow interweb friends!

A few blogs ago, I posted about quintessential school supplies, but really did not get in depth with personal necessities, so I thought I'd share with you things I keep handy in my backpack/tote-bag/any- kind-of-bag-you-use-for-school! These are like the basic, most important things that I always need right by me and I feel like these items are pretty basic enough that everyone will have some kind of variation in their bags. Enjoy the video guys!

If you guys have any essentials that you think I should add to my bags, please do share! I'm sure there are a lot more things I'm missing...but it's ok.

If you haven't gotten a chance to see the school supplies post, come check it out here!

Until next time,

Foodie Tues-dee #4

Hello fellow interweb friends!

So for this Foodie Tues-dee, I thought I'd share a newfound delicious snack that is delicious, nutritious, and all-around wonderful!

That's right guys! As boring as it may seem, this trail mix, or as they labeled it, energy mix, is so flippen amazing! We already know how healthy and filling nuts are for us, so there's not much else I need to say there. The thing that makes this taste so good is because it is a balance between salty/savory flavors and rich, sweet, chocolatey deliciousness! Since it's covered with dark chocolate, it makes it a little bit healthier. As for the serving size, a quarter of this box is only 190 calories, I'm not a calorie counter so I don't know if it's good or bad, but in comparison to things like the hundred calorie packs, I'd rather eat this 190 calories and be more satisfied with my snack!

So where can you get your little paws on this little box of healthy heaven?!?! Well, I got mine at Food-4-Less, but I know Ralph's also carries the same things, same packing and all, so I am going to go on a whim and say that Food-4-Less and Ralph's are of the same company.

With me being in school and classes all day, these are perfect for me because I can munch on it throughout the day and hardly make a dent in the box. This is a perfect snack for anyone really, especially when  you're in a rush and don't have time to pack a lunch or get some breakfast. If you want, they have all different kinds of mixes. I prefer the energy one just because I need as much energy as possible to stay awake and deal with my boring professors!

That's all for now!
Until next time,

Musical Monday #1

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Happy Monday to you all! Now, I know Mondays are not the most exciting thing in the world, but look at it as a new fresh new start to the week! A whole 7 days can be real stressful, so by starting your week out with some positive energy, it will make the week go by a little faster, so I though I'd start a new thread of posts lamely named Musical Monday on my blog. With these posts, I will share with you a song that makes me super happy, puts a pep in my step, and of course, brings me a giddy/dorky smile to my face, which can make everything feel little bit brighter.

For the first Musical Monday, I thought I'd share with you this song, You Bring Me the Sunshine by Jess Penner in her Growing in the Cold album.

Just by the name of the song, you know it will already be nice and upbeat. Once you start listening to it, with the rhythm and melody and all that musical goodness in there, you can feel the happiness go through you and just makes you want to dance, maybe even bob back and forth!

This song can make any Monday, or any day in general a little better and it's just a reminder that there is always someone or something out there, with the littlest thing that they do, can make you happy, which can go the other way to. You can make just as much of a difference in someone else's life by the little things that you do!

Hope you guys enjoy the song!

Until next time,
Uyen

It's the School Necessities!

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Long time no post?!?! Sorry, I've kind of been enjoying my summer and then got tossed into the grind of school again, so I've been lacking on here. But with that said, I thought this post is going up at the perfect time since it is back to school season. Some of you are possibly going back this coming week while others still have a few more weeks to go. As for me, well it feels like I'm never really out of school, but that's not the point!

So recently, I took my brother back-to-school shopping, and it wouldn't be likely of me to not get some supplies for myself, especially since we were in Target, home of all things beautiful and great! Back-to-school shopping is like one of my most favorite kinds of shopping because I think school supplies are just beautiful and wonderful and everything awesome. Here are some of the things I picked up that I feel like are major necessities that everyone should have for school!
If you guys haven't picked it up yet, I have quite the obsession for anything bright and colorful, the more vibrant the better. For as long as I can remember, I've always loved having a ton of colorful pens and highlighters. If I have to do something as boring as taking notes, then it better be looking real pretty and colorful to keep me awake! The colors, though can be distracting at first, once you have your system down with each color representing something different, your notes will not only look amazing, but it will making looking them over an easier thing to do! I'd rather have colorful notes to look over than dull black and white ones where everything just seem to blend in together!

As for notebooks and binders, I prefer having individual notebooks for each subject. Now, this is easy for me since I'm in college and I don't have to have the three-ring binders that are somehow a required object in schools now?!?! Like I remember taking my brother back-to-school shopping last year, he literally had a 3-ring binder for like every teacher he had. Anyways, for me though, I prefer the expanding file folders just because everything is already sectioned off, which means you can store handouts for specific classes/periods into their own section, keeping things nice and organized! As for the notebooks, just like the pens, I like to assign a certain color notebook to a specific subject and then just go from there! With notebooks, you are able to keep all your notes in one area and not have to fumble around various pieces of papers to find your notes. If you do have one of those teachers who require you to have separate folders, just toss a notebook in there for when you take notes and some extra pieces of paper for those occasional class activities that you have to turn in a piece of paper.

And of course, flashcards are the best, most basic supply that can make a huge difference in your study habits! You literally can make flashcards for everything and anything school related and it makes studying so much easier than just looking through notes! I love my flashcards, especially when I get to use pretty colorful pens to make them. The combination of flashcards and pretty notes will definitely make studying for tests a little more fun and vibrant, which means you'll get more stuff into your head and do better in school! Overall, it is a win-win situation, academically and aesthetically.
Now, the pens, highlighters, papers, notebooks, and flashcards are still not enough! The one thing that, to me, can make a huge difference in your study habits is the almighty planner. Now, if you have not seen my post in regards to how to use a planner, well, I will link it at the end so go look at it. Planners, a physical, paper-made one where you have to write something down is better than the next iPhone alert/calendar/planner application you can find. It is always better to have something important like a due date or appointment written down physically, in hard copy than just over some kind of iCloud/techy stuff. It is like taking notes for class, except it's more tangible things like due dates and tests, or even something called extra credit assignments! You don't want to be that person that didn't write down an extra credit opportunity and forget about it, especially when the teacher gives it like a month in advance and you may have missed a few class that caused you a few points on a test or something! Now, my planner is big because I prefer to scribble and write every little thing in my planner, but you don't have to get something that big. For me, I think the prettier the planner is the more likely you'd want to take it out and use it, so pick out something you find pretty and wonderful so you'll put it to good use!

And of course, the pretty planner can occasionally be accompanied by a pretty pencil and a little care kit, especially for us girls! For me, I keep all school supplies in one bag and then little trinkets like floss, chapstick, a little perfume roller ball, some medicine, etc. in a separate bag just so I won't be flustered when I need something and don't know where to look for it. I am one of those people who carries everything in their bag, so by having separate holders/bags/pouches for specific groups of products will really help me to stay organize!

Hopefully this will help you a little bit in this back-to-school season! I know everything here are like basics that everyone usually already have, but sometimes, they are just so basic that we overlook them like the colored pens and planners. I hope you all the best for this coming academic year, but of course, enjoy the last few days of summer that you have left!

UPDATE: here's the post about planners and managing your time/stress

Until next time,
Uyen

New Obessession!

Hello fellow interweb friends!

I feel like we all experience a lost of appreciation for reading books. This usually starts right around high school when we get assigned books to read for homework. I know for me, school work became such a hassle that I started to lose interest in reading books for fun, instead, I'd read gossip magazines and online sites like Perez Hilton. However, now though, I think I've found a solution to this so I can enjoy "reading" again!

I've been obsessed with Audible! It's pretty much audio books so you can listen/read on the go or whenever you want. I recently started reading/listening "Delirium" by Lauren Oliver and I seriously cannot stop! The last time I enjoyed books this much was about a year ago when I was reading Fifty Shades trilogy, haha! But yes, I listened/read "Delirium" for a straight 3 hours and could not stop! It is so different listening to the books; it feels a lot more lively and I feel like the reader does a really good job at expressing the author's tone for the characters.

Anyways, now, I'm kind of excited to continue my subscription, which is $14.95 a month. I get to listen to one book a month, which is a little pricey, but if you think about it, an audio book is quite expensive already. Besides, Audible has so many titles on their site, from classics to contemporary modern books, so I think, for me, it'll be worth the money, especially since my drive to school is around half an hour, which is a good chunk of time to listen to a chapter or two.

Anyways, hope you guys check it out!

Until next time,
Uyen
