Musical Monday?!?!?

Hello fellow interweb friends!

It has definitely been a while since I've posted something on here and I am so sorry! I promise I still love my little bloggy baby but just haven't had a lot of time. So I thought maybe I can post a song that I've been slightly obsessed with on here for you guys since it's been a while.

Compass - Lady Antebellum

If you guys don't already know, I enjoy country music, quite a bit and this song has definitely been one of my favorites. Whenever it comes on, I always start to sing at the top of my lungs, even though I can't sing even if my life depended on it!

Hope you enjoy,
Until next time...hopefully, not too long!

High End Quality Hair Mask Minus the Cost

Hello fellow interweb friends!

With the holiday season around the corner, or just life in general, I'm sure we do a lot of things that are harmful towards our hair and stripping all the nutrients necessary to keep it healthy. Unfortunately, sometimes we don't think of using things like coconut oil for our hair but would rather turn to other serums and things that can cost a fortune just to give a little bit of life back into our hair. As great as macadamia oils and moroccan oils and argan oils are for our hair, the cost to get one of those bottles, at its finest form to give the most benefits to our hair, is just ridiculous because no one needs to spend $30-$50 on a bottle of diluted stuff! Instead, we should all be checking out coconut oil that can go for anything from $4-$10 a tub that can last us just as long as any of those expensive stuff.

So why coconut oil?
The oil, when put into the hair before you shower, actually penetrates the moisture deeper into your hair shaft and when you wash it, the vitamins will still be in the hair, unlike conventional conditioners that would just wash away with the shampoo. Coconut oil works both for dry and oily hair, so that means everyone can use it, just at different amounts. For me, my hair is thin and slightly oily, so I will use about a dime-sized amount from the tip of my hair to around my ears, and it'll be enough. I use it about 2-3 times a week, depending on how lazy I am as well as how bad I treated my hair in other days of the week.

Coconut oil has been a hair treatment for hundreds of years, so this isn't anything new. The only reason I'm bringing it up now is because I don't think anyone should be paying a fortune just to get nice hair when you can get the same effect for about a tenth of the price! When buying coconut oil, just make sure you are buying the extra virgin because that will give you the purest form of the oil and you'll be able to reap all the benefits of it.

Here, I'm only talking about coconut oil as a hair mask/deep conditioner, but it can be used for your skin as well, facial cleanser, and of course cooking. If you want to check out more, I'll link this Huffington Post article for you to check out!

DIY: Stimulate Your Skin and Senses

Hello fellow interweb friends!

If you remember, about a month, maybe a little less, I shared with you the uses of toners on your face. Well, now, I thought I'd share with you how to make your own toner/facial spray so you can save money as well as use less chemicals on your face!

So, what I did to make my own tea tree oil with rosewater toner spray is I took 10 cap-full to a third of the oil and half of the rosewater bottle. In other words, one bottle or rosewater will give you two bottles of the DIY toner spray. I only used 10 caps of the oil because I didn't want the tea tree oil to be too concentrated, which can cause my skin to dry out. Also, if I really wanted to concentrate the oil onto my skin, I would just use a cotton swab to dab some of the oil directly onto areas on my face that I think needs extra oil attention.

What are the benefits of tea tree oil you may ask?
1. it kills bacteria (i.e. helps fight acne)
2. help get rid of dead skin cells
3. an anti-fungal to help treat eczema, infections, etc.
4. treating dandruff

What are the benefits of rosewater?
1. hydrate skin without leaving it oily
2. high in vitamins A, B3, C, D, E, which can help improve overall skin health
3. resolve skin inflammation and irritation
4. maintain skin's natural pH to help treat eczema

Now that you know some of the benefits of tea tree oil and rosewater, imagine the synergetic effects that can happen when you combine the two together? For me, I've seen an improvement in my skin and I've been using it for about a month now. I spray it in the morning, after I shower, or just anytime I feel like I want a little spritz to wake my senses as well as my skin up. That's another benefit of this little concoction. Both of these ingredients are great for aromatherapy as well, so when you want to calm your nerves or invigorate your senses, just a few sprays will make you feel like you just walked out of the spa and ready to take on the day!

Until next time,

Caudalie Beauty Elixir: Ridiculously Magical

Hello fellow interweb friends!

It has definitely been a long time since I've posted something for you guys and I apologize! I feel like from now until December, I won't be able to post as much as I used to just because of my school scheduling and workload and what not. In other words, I won't be able to post as much of the fun and random stuff, but I will for sure pop in every once in a while to share something cool with you guys!

Lately, ever since I started school, I have been super stressed out to the max and it definitely showed up on my skin because I started breaking out like nobody's business! Literally, I think my skin went on a purge and zits were just popping up all over the place. Anyways, so to deal with that, I washed my face and exfoliated more than I usually did just to get all the dirty and dead stuff out of my skin. However, the one major thing that I've changed is I sprayed my face with Caudalie's Beauty Elixir as a toner afterwards everyday for the past two weeks and definitely saw an improvement in my skin.

Ingredients: Water, Alcohol Denat, Glycerin, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Rosemary leaf Oil, Potassium Alum, Bitter Orange Flower Water, Orange Flower Oil, Peppermint Oil, Commiphora Myrrha Extract, Styrax Benzoin Resin Extract, Balm Mint Leaf Oil, Grape Fruit Extract, Citral, Citronellol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonen, Linalool
So why use a toner? And why this one?

Well, first off, I'd like to emphasize the importance of using a toner after we wash our face. Toner is important to neutralize your skin's pH and bring it back to equilibrium after we wash our face, which means we've demolished the top layer of our skin, especially when we exfoliate. When we wash our face, we clean the upper most layer. The point of using a toner after is to bring the cleansing components deeper into our skin. And if you're like me and you also use a moisturizer after, toners actually act as a helping agent to bring the moisturizer deep into your skin. Just imagine, when you put on lotions or hand creams, after you wash it, the moisture goes away, but if you were to put a toner on it first, the moisture will remain even after washing it.

Now, why this specific one? Well, the main reason why I am ridiculously in love with this is because of the smell! Yes, I know that doesn't sound super professional, but for some reason, this little thing smells like the spa and just totally relaxes me on top of its skin-healing ingredients. As you can see on the ingredients list I posted under the picture, this elixir is really just made up of a lot of natural oils, from fruits to plants. Now, glycerine is one of the main ingredients and its purpose is to bring moisture into the skin. As for the rose oils, that helps clarify the pores. The mint oils are used as an aromatherapy ingredient to help calm your senses as well as your skin. When sprayed on, you feel a cooling feeling and a tingly sensation on your skin. I am totally in love with the feeling and scent that the elixir gives off. I can honestly say that my skin condition and acne scarring has improved within the past two weeks that I've started to use the elixir religiously again.

I really think this can be used for all skin tones, minus the sensitive one because of all the natural ingredients. I'm not saying you cannot experience the magical effects of it, but maybe you can try using it every once in a while. It won't do much harm to your skin since the ingredients are all natural oils that our skin can adapt to.

So pretty much, I've been spoiling my skin and my senses with this. It is a perfect spray to use before bed to calm yourself as well as treat your skin. The elixir comes in 2 sizes, the small travel sized one goes for $18 and the large one goes for $49. I've been using the travel sized one just because that's the one that I've had since I went to Vietnam, so obviously it lasts you for quite some time. I will definitely be purchasing the large one soon because I think skin care is a long-term investment and it's always better to have long-lasting healthy skin since I'm super lazy when it comes to make-up.

What kinds of toners do you use? And what are your thoughts on tea tree oil and rose water because that's the next thing that I'll be posting about soon!

Until next time,
Uyen

UPDATED: Manic Madness Management

Hello fellow interweb friends!

With the school year finally starting and what not, I know we're getting tempted to put things off, especially school-related things, so we can try to hang on to whatever is left of summer. Unfortunately, that's a really bad idea, unless you have an organized way to procrastinate. As weird as that sounds, being organized is actually helpful when you want to procrastinate. How does that make sense, I have no idea, but here's a little video that can go more into detail about it!

Hope you guys enjoy! What are some of your organizational tips?!?! Please leave it as a comment down below and follow & subscribe for more!

Until next time,

Foodie Tues-dee On a Wednesday?!?! Sure!

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Now, I know I haven't posted one of these in a long time, but that's just because I haven't gone out to eat that much and if I did, it wasn't great enough for me to share. But then again, maybe I should share things I don't like as well...I don't know! Thoughts, comments, leave them down below and help a girl out, please and thank you!

Anyways, for this one, I wanted to share with you my thoughts on Starbucks' Bistro Boxes/Sandwiches/Salads. Now, I know the prices for these things are ridiculous, but when you're an avid Starbucks-goer like myself, then most of the time, they wouldn't cost a thing because you'd just use your free item to redeem it. Anyways, I love their chicken caesar salad as well as the roasted tomato and mozzarella panini. Both of these have one thing in common that just makes them extremely delicious and that is: roasted tomatoes!!! Good lord, I love me some roasted tomatoes because they just smell amazing and tastes delicious!

Now, does that not look delicious or what?!?!? So this is the panini and I just had it last night before my horrible 3 hour long night class. The sandwich was toasted to perfection because it had just the right amount of crispiness to it and everything blended so well together in the sandwich. The taste, texture, and coloration of it just makes me so happy and pleased, so much that I had to share it with you guys!

Gosh, looking at the picture now and see this all over again makes me want to go out and get one right now. If any of you guys are hungry from this, please do go try it out! The best part is all this gloryness and deliciousness is only like 380 calories! Ya, that is not bad at all, especially since you are more than likely to burn more calories than that in a day just by doing everyday activities like breathing and laughing.

Until next time,
Uyen

Musical Monday #4

Hello fellow interweb friends!

It's been a while since I've done a Musical Monday, but here it is! The song I picked out this week is a pretty sad, but decently good one. As we all know, the song "Wrecking Ball" from Miley Cyrus has decently lyrics and meaning, however, since her video was a little too much, it brought down the value of the song. The video that made her song worse than what is really is is not the only version; after seeing the director's cut version of the song, I have a whole new respect for her. In the director's cut, she is a lot more raw with her emotions, giving the song a little bit more meaning. Here's the director's cut, hope you enjoy!

And here is my most favorite cover of the song. This one is done by Landon Austin, a YouTuber musician that I completely adore. He is talented in terms of performing as well as songwriting. He is currently on tour now and if you guys enjoy this cover, do check out his other songs.

Until next time,

Uyen's Weekly Watches #1

Hello fellow interweb friends!

As we already know, this is a new "series" kind of thing on my blog where I talk to you about the shows I've been watching, hoping you've seen it too or also watch the various series! Pretty much, once a week, I will post up a review/reaction/response to various shows that I enjoy during the week for you guys to read, and hopefully, respond back. If we have similar taste in TV then this can be very much fun. Since this is the first post, I will mainly focus on the shows that were on today, Sunday, September 29, and those are: Downtown Abbey, Revenge, and Once Upon a Time.

Downton Abbey: Season 4 - Episode 2
This is a British show and it takes place during King George V's reign at Downton Abbey, a country house in Yorkshire. The Abbey is owned by the Earl and Countess of Grantham, who are the head of household for the Crawley family. The show pretty much portrays the struggle that the aristocrats go through when the lines between the social hierarchies are being blurred. The three seasons was amazing and introduced us to all the main characters and their background story and relations with each other. A lot happened in the first three seasons, so if you can, definitely look them up and have a look!
As for today's episode, it was the second episode of the forth season. The main events that happened are: Mary being granted 50% of ownership of Downton, Rose getting involved (kind of, sort of) with a servant from another family, and Thomas Barrow starting drama between a new lady's maid and Anna. Now, the thing that gets my blood boiling is Thomas Barrow not knowing his place and starting issues all over the Abbey. It is not the first time that he's done this, but yet he never learns! The bad part is that the new lady's maid actually believes his intentions are to help her, despite the fact that she's worked there before and knows he can be very conniving! And if I remember correctly, this new lady's maid is actually the same one that seduced Lord Grantham a few seasons back, causing her to leave the Abbey in the first place! Pretty much, Barrow and the new lady's maid is just a storm waiting to erupt because nothing good ever comes out of Barrow's actions. Other than that, nothing huge happens, but I'm excited to see how things go now that Lord Grantham has come to realize that Mary legally has 50% of the estate and he has to slowly get used to the idea of her, being his daughter and a female, run the Abbey, which was always a man's job.

Revenge: Season 3 - Episode 1
UMMMM...O MY GOSH! THE ENDING...TOTAL CLIFF HANGER...AND I'M DYING OF EXCITEMENT FOR NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE!!!

If you have not seen this series, it is about a girl, Amanda Clarke, who now goes by Emily Thorne tries to seek revenge for her father's death. He was blamed for the falling of a plane that was actually caused by a group in the government called the Initiative and financed by Grayson Global. To get the whole backdrop of the story, you should just go watch the first two seasons.
Anyways, for today's episode, so many things happened and I have so many feelings and reactions to it all that I'm a typing maniac right now! Emily has decided on a date to marry Daniel, but the same day also means the end of the Grayson family's reign over the Hamptons. Throughout the episode, Emily has managed to get rid of Ashley and demolish any chances of Conrad staying in office. However, she was given an ultimatum by her childhood friend/lost-lover, Jack, who told her to get out of the Hamptons by the end of summer or else he will reveal her true ideantity. Today's episode was focused around fear, fear of the unknown, fear of the past, etc. And as fear goes, Emily has a lot to fear for, especially when Aiden has returned with the intentions of working with Victoria to "bring down the girl next door."

Once Upon A Time: Season 3 - Episode 1
"filet the bitch" - says the Evil Queen to the captured mermaid

As for this series, if you have not seen it before, it is very interesting. The concept of the show is based on fairytale stories, all strewn together to make a very intriguing take on how the stories should progress. I can't tell you everything that's happened, so if you are interested, I'd definitely recommend you watch this, especially if you enjoy fairytale stories like I do.
As for today's episode, Emma and the crew are trying to save Neil and Henry. Unfortunately, Neil is in the Enchanted Forest and Henry is in Neverland where he's being chased down by Peter Pan. Unlike the Peter Pan we read about, in the series, Peter Pan goes after young boys and capture their shadows to keep them hostage forever. Since he never captured Neil's his target will be Henry, Neil's son. So far, Emma and the crew has battled mermaids and are currently weathering a storm brought onto them when they captured one of the mermaids who attacked the ship. Anyways, they were able to calm the store and got onto Neverland. Little did they know, Henry has already been captured by Peter Pan, as for how, you should watch because that part was good! The end of it was Henry being held hostage by Peter Pan and the Lost Boy, fearing for his life. Ah, so much emotions and excitement!

Can't wait for next week's episodes!

Until next time,

Thoughts On Balm Stains and Lip Lacquers?!?!

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Now, with the holidays coming and we'll all be out at special events where we want to always look amazing and glammed out, so that means we are going to want to have some amazing lip products! I thought I'd share with you some of my recent finds at the drugstore, mainly Walgreens, so you guys can have an idea of what is out there?!?!

All in all, I would suggest you getting the Rimmel London Show Off and the Jordana Twist and Shine over the Revlon ones just because the pigmentation is better and it is more affordable. With products like these, it can be used as a staple product in your bag for wherever you may go. If anything bad does happen to it, like it melts or you losing it, it won't be as painful since it's dirt cheap! I'm sure, just like me, no one wants to lose their more expensive lipsticks that you've saved up to buy or got as a special present!

Hope you enjoyed!

Until next time,
Uyen

September Favorites and Blehs

Hello fellow interweb friends!

With September coming to an end, I wanted to share with you what products I've been loving this past month! I must say, September was the month for drugstore products because the majority of my favorites were from the drug store.

What were some of your favorite products this month? It doesn't have to be just make-up. Please do share away, I get super excited whenever I get a notification that I have a comment or response on my blog or YouTube. And if you like what you see, please follow and subscribe for more goodies!

School Bag Necessities

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Today, I shall be starting my very last "first day" of school!!! And so I thought I'd share with you guys what I carry around in my little hub-nub of a backpack. I feel like everything I have in here are essentials, but of course, I'm sure there are things that I have that you may not and vice versa. I really hate to have certain things missing from my backpack, so I tend to overpack. It may not seem like it in the video, but give me like maybe two weeks and then you'll see what other magical, majestical things I end up putting into it.

What are some things you carry around in your school sack to ensure that you are prepared for anything thrown your way? Please share and comment below! I love hearing from you guys, even if they are bad things, just because I like turning my blog posts into mini conversations.

Another question, how are you guys liking this new blog/vlog/video format? I know my videos may not be the greatest in quality, but I feel like I get a lot more across when I talk and between the videos and my posts, everything will complement each other and you'll have a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Anyways, if you are enjoying my blog, please click that little "follow" button right under my picture. And as for those of you who enjoy my newly improved videos or just like watching me make a fool of myself, please "subscribe" to my YouTube channel. Sometimes, I will post things onto YouTube first before I actually link/share it on my blog, therefore, if you want to have the inside scoop at all times, just subscribe!

Until next time,

What I Do With My Face!

Hello fellow interweb friends!

As many of you know, I love being able to roam about with no make up as much as possible. However, in order to not scare people off with my bare face, I have to make sure I take good care of it, so I don't look freakishly scary. To do that, I do this thing called washing my face and thought I might share the products that I use with you guys!

Now, this is mainly for the day time, but the routine doesn't really change for the night time, minus the fact that I might have a few candles burning and I'll be washing my face in the shower. What are some of your secrets to keeping nice skin? And what products do you suggest?!?

Until next time,
Uyen

Get to Know Me!

Hello fellow interweb friends!

So I've been blogging for almost a year now, and I feel like I've never really get to sit down and tell you guys a bit about myself. Now, I know you can kind of tell what kind of person I am through my posts and the occasional few videos, but I thought it would be more fun to pretend to talk to you guys?  By talking to you guys, I mean sitting in front of a camera and talking to myself and pretending like someone is there to respond to me. I prefer doing things the more awkward way, if you know what I mean. Please feel free to start a conversation with me and if you enjoy the videos I've been posting, just hit that cute little "follow" button on the blog and "subscribe" on my YouTube channel, and we will be on our way on some kind of odd adventure together!

So can we officially be friends now?!?!?

Until next time,

Back-to-School Look #7: Click Your Heels & Dance Away

Hello fellow interweb friends!

I can't believe this is the last look post I will be sharing with you guys! It is unfortunate that I can't experience all the seasons and its beauty like some of you guys, however, I can't say I don't appreciate the everlasting sunshine that I get to enjoy everyday. Though this weather does limit the possibilities of things I can wear, I do not mind being able to wear a dress at all times, whenever I want! For this last look, like the previous one, I wanted something that can help me transition from the heat into the cooler weather of fall, and so here it is!

Dress: Rachel Roy, Denim Jacket: Guess, Boots: Guess, Necklace: Macy's, Watch: Marc Jacobs
This is a little different from all the outfits that I've posted lately since this one is a dress instead of shorts and some kind of a shirt! This dress is super flowing and stripe pattern changes around the waste, giving it an illusion of a two-pieced outfit. I paired it with the denim jacket to give it a little more structure since the dress is a very soft and flowing material. Then I decided to pair these boots with it. The boots aren't exactly cowgirl boots, but it gives it a somewhat western feel. And for reasons I don't know why, when I think of fall, I think of riding horses through fallen leaves, and that's why I decided to pick out these shoes for this outfit. Since there is already so much colors going on already, for the necklace, I decided on a chunky ivory colored on to balance out the rest of the outfit. With so much texture and color going on, I didn't put too much on the hands except for my watch because I just feel naked without my watch!

With this outfit on, I definitely feel like fall is here. Because fall isn't too hot or too cold, this little ensemble is perfect and it gives you a lot of room to move around and dance freely whenever you want to!

Hope you guys have enjoyed all the looks I've posted! Please feel free to share any of your favorite fall outfits. I will for sure post outfits here and there for you guys soon, and we can pick each other's brains about all the clothing possibilities that we can mix and match!

Until next time,
Uyen

Back-to-School Look #6: Falling into Autumn

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Here it is, the second to last look to add on to our "Back-To-School" look-book for this year! Since it is the last one, I thought I'd share with you an outfit that is a good transition between summer and fall, especially for those of you living in areas where it is still feeling like summer, even though Halloween is right around the corner.

Shirt & Shorts: J.Crew, Shoes: Steve Madden, Watch: Marc Jacobs, Necklace: J.Crew, Bracelet: BCBG Generation
This outfit, to me is the perfect transition, from summer to fall. Everything from the colors of the outfit to the material of the clothes make it a perfect pairing for this time of year. The shorts are bright and flowing, keeping you nice on cool on those days where the temperature can still get a little high. Simultaneously, since the shirt is a little thicker, it can keep you warm during the cold mornings. Besides the material of the shirt, everything in the shirt's details, the little hints of bright colors paralleling with the navy blue just makes it perfect. Since there is so much going on with the colors and textures of the outfit already, it is best to finish this outfit off with a clean chain necklace and a nice watch. As for the sandals, well the gold cuff part of it just did it for me!

Hope you guys enjoyed this outfit! What are some of your outfit ideas to transition from summer to fall? I still have one more look to share with you, so keep an eye out for that!

Until next time,
Uyen

Ipsy's September Glam: Classic Beauty

Hello fellow interweb friends!

As promised, since I haven't posted much this week, I will be sharing with you some videos! So for this month, I finally received my Ipsy bag in the mail and couldn't wait to open it since I kind of had an idea of what my items were. I thought I'd wait and open it with you guys, so here it is!

The products definitely fit very well with the "Classic Beauty" theme, especially since it came in a royal blue with black almost baroque-styled floral designs on it. Everything in side reminds me of glamours Hollywood with dark eyes with the black liner and red lips and sparkles!

I say for only $10.80 a month, I'm getting some good stuff in this bag! I hope you check out Ipsy and surprise yourself with some bits and bobs every month!

I will definitely do an update on how I feel about the products once I've used them and will probably update on here, so keep an eye out for that! As for the rest of the week, I have some pretty cool stuff in line for you guys, so stick around and enjoy!

Until next time,

Back-to-School Look #4/5: Pretty, Glittery & Baubly Things

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Since it is mid-September now, I feel like the majority of you or all of you have already gone back to school, unless you are home-schooled, then you get the pleasure of working with your own schedule. As for us who are already back in school, I thought I'd share this next look, or two looks, with you. These two looks are very similar to one another, just with different color schemes, but they're both something I would wear pretty much everyday if I could!
Shirts & Shorts: J.Crew, Necklace: Baublebar, Bracelets: Forever 21, Shoes: Steve Madden
So pretty much, it is just a super simple outfits that looks more put together because I paired a regular t-shirt with a dressier pair of shorts. I added a little oomph with the big, chunky necklace, but then balanced out all the big details with a pair of either Oxfords or my Sperry. Not so coincidently, my shoes still add a little pizzazz to the outfits since they are nice and sparkly!
Shirt: Abercombit&Fitch, Shorts: J.Crew, Necklace: Baublebar, Shoes: Sperry
I love these two outfits so much because they are nice and comfy, but you still look very put together in them just because of the shorts. The minute you switch out the shorts for a pair of jean shorts, the feel will be much different. If you've seen my YouTube videos, I admitted to having a little bit more of a grandma-feel to the way I dress, but hey, we're all getting old right, so I guess I'm already dressing the part now!

If you are interested in getting some of these amazing necklaces as well to add a little spice to your life/closet's life, then check out Baublebar! They have some super pretty stuff that I think will complement a variety of style.

Until next time,
Uyen

Back-to-School Look #3: Fresh

Hello fellow interweb friends!

So unfortunately for us Californians, the heat has gone up like no other, which means even though we're going into fall, we're still living in summer weather that can go up to about 100 degrees. For me, that means no pants, no jeans, nothing too tight or might bog me down and make me feel uncomfortable. This look is perfect to stay comfy and airy so I'm not constantly sweating like a beast!

There is nothing better, more classic and comfy than a nice pair of jean shorts and a white tank top. This tank top has a mesh back and it's got somewhat of an acid-like wash on the front panel. The shorts have a nice little pocket detail, keeping things nice and colorful. Since it is a very neutral color, to add a little more pizzazz, I paired it with my big chunky pink and yellow chained necklace. And of course, I wanted to put my J.Crew gold chain bracelet with a little grey bow bangle just to balance out the outfit. Usually, if you have on a big chunky necklace, you can either pair it with some simple studs, or like I did here and add some small bracelets. And lastly, I must have my taupe suede loafer to this outfit! There's already so much color going on between the short's pockets and the necklace that to wear gold shoes or something colored will just be too much!

Hope you liked it!

Until next time,
Uyen

Make-Up Musical Monday #4

Hello fellow interweb friends!

I know I'm a day late, but I was very stressed out and busy yesterday, so I couldn't share this week's song with you on the right day, but still, here is this week's song! It is Imagine Dragons' Demons!

At first, I didn't know if I really liked them or not based on Radioactive, but after a few listens on my iHeartRadio, I think Imagine Dragons has grown on me. I've been playing this on repeat and really tempted to buy their album...but I think I will refrain for now.

Hope you enjoy!

Until next time,

Liebster Award!

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Today, an old co-worker of mine, Megan, gave me the most unexpected and exciting news that I've gotten in a long time and that is she has nominated my blog, this blog, for the The Liebster award! It is  an honor that gets passed among fellow bloggers, who nominate other small blogs with less than 200 followers.
Liebster: German for beloved, dearest.
Before I get on with explaining to you about the nominations, I'd like to share with you Megan's blog where she talks about hobbies she's gotten into as a graduate student as well as her adventures planning her wedding. I honestly did not know she blogs until she told me about the nomination and linked me to her blog, which I find to be very fun and quirky to read. And with that said, please check out Megan's blog!

The rules for the nominations are as follows:
1. You must link back to the person who nominated you.
2. You must answer the 11 questions given to you by your nominator.
3. You must pick 11 bloggers, each with under 200 followers, to be nominated.
4. You must come up with 11 questions for your nominees to answer.
5. You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees.

Before I link 11 other bloggers for the award, I think I will answer some of Megan's questions first!

1. How long have you been blogging?
My blog is is actually still very young. It will be 5 months old coming up on September 16, so I guess I can say that I've been blogging for about 5 months now.
2. What are your favorite posts to write?
My favorite posts are usually food or fashion related, especially bargained fashion pieces that I find every once in a while. For me, between my foods and my fashion choices, I have a lot to say and share just because I enjoy those two very much. Both of those types of blog posts represent my personality very well, so I feel like not only am I sharing something with my readers, who I prefer to think of as my interweb friends, but am also letting them get to know me as a person through the way to write.
3. Other than blogging, what is your favorite hobby?
Besides my blog, I like to make random YouTube videos that I also share in my blogs. A recent hobby that I picked up is going to the gym with my friends. As for times when I'm not blogging or working out, I like to find new music to listen to.
4. How many blogs do you follow?
I think I only follow a total of less than 10 blogs? I'm not a huge blog reader; the only reason I started my blog was to use it as a distraction from darker days that I went through this past year, but now, I am in love with it and it is like my interweb baby!
5. Finish the sentence: My weakness is...
FRENCH FRIES!
6. What is your favorite book?
My all-time favorite book has to be Jane Eyre! I am a weak link for a good love story!
7. How would you rate your cooking skill?
My cooking skill is zero to non-existent! I mean I can manage to survive from day to day, but I don't think I'm that confident in my cooking to want to feed people.
8. What is your favorite social media site?
My favorite media site is probably YouTube because it is a mix of everything I love. I can explore anything from fashion to food to music in a very interactive way by watching other people's videos.
9. If you could make a living doing anything, what would it be?
If I could make a living off of just eating food and talking about food, then I would totally do it! There is something about eating that just makes me super happy, especially when the food tastes good and also have amazing arrangement because I think the prettier the food layout is, the better the taste will be, even if it is not as good.
10. Name your top 5 favorite music artists.
This one is very hard! Right now, I'm in love with Bastille, Jess Penner, Empire of the Sun, Luke Bryan, and Lana Del Rey. I have a very wide variety in my taste for music, as you can tell, so for me to pick only 5 favorites, it is very hard because I feel like I look to a certain artist when I feel a certain way. With that being said though, these five are probably my go-to artists to make me feel happy and wonderful.
11. What are your dreams/aspirations for your blog?
Dreams and aspirations for my blog...probably to share it with as many people as possible! I would love to start interacting more with my interweb friends just so we can pick each other's minds and share things with one another. I feel like some of us can break out of our shells better behind a screen, which will allow us to learn more from one another.

Here are the blogs that I'd like to nominate:
Domesticated Working Woman - Lindsay Gaines
We Do Fun Here - Jenn K
I Can Cook That - Kaitlin
Simply Chels - Chelsea Michelson
Girl In Betsey - Krystin Tysire
Colors of Honey - Kirby Margaret
Skinny Student - Marie Harper
Mommiez on a Mission - Nicole Howell

And my questions for the nominees are...
1. What made you want to start a blog?
2. What is the story behind your blog's name?
3. Who/what inspired you to start a blog?
4. What is one random fact about yourself that you've not shared on your blog?
5. What is your favorite blog?
6. What kinds of posts do you enjoy to read/write most?
7. If you can write about anything, what would it be?
8. If you can live anywhere in the world, where would that be?
9. Where do you see your blog 5 years from now?
10. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
11. What is your most favorite post on your own blog?

Good luck to all the nominees,
Until next time,
Uyen

Back-to-School Look #2: Poised & Prepared, with a Pow

Hello fellow interweb friends!

Finally, I'm sharing the second look that I thought we all need to have for the new school year. This one is more business-like, preparing you for all those club meetings or interview for board positions in organizations that you may be a part of!

This top is a satin-like material with a bow detail around the waist from H&M and the black skater skirt was from Urban Outfitters. I paired it with my Baublebar floral bib that I got for my birthday. Unfortunately, this necklace is no longer on their site, but this is the closest thing to it! And of course, I must have to have my watch and a small bracelet, just to make it look nice and polished, ready-for-anything kind of attitude! The finishing detail is in the shoes! I thought I'd pair my gold Betsey Johnson flats with spike details just to add a little more personality to the outfit. Of course, we all want to look professional, but not the boring kind!

This outfit is perfect to impress that new club you want to be a part of or show that you are poised and prepared for any kind of position you try out for, but still have a little bit of personality!

And if you're interested, click here to sign up for Baublebar and start shopping for your next favorite accessory!

Until next time,
